Learners begin their Foundation Phase journey in Grade R (the year that they turn 6 years old) or in Grade 1 (the year that they turn 7 years old.)
The Grade R – 3s are taught at our Primary School Campus, situated in Hillcrest Drive. We offer the CAPS Curriculum, as set out by the Department of Education.
Our classrooms are well equipped. Each classroom has a projector and internet connection, to incorporate technology into learning and teaching.
We have well qualified, dedicated teachers who strive to ensure that our learners achieve to the best of their abilities. Our teaching staff comprises of class teachers, as well as specialist teachers for isiXhosa, Educational Technology, Library, Music and Art. The Phase also has Interns to assist the teachers.

Each week, the classes also attend specialist subjects which include Library and Educational Technology.
Extra-murals at Beaconhurst are intended to be educational and recreational. No special emphasis is placed on any particular activity. Learners are given the opportunity to participate in as wide a range of activities as possible. To provide opportunities for all our learners, to ensure the safety of our learners and in keeping with our sport philosophy, learners may only play in their own age group. The activities are conducted under the supervision of full-time academic staff members. External coaches are employed for certain sporting codes. The majority of these activities are free of charge. Where activities are after the allotted extra-mural time, a fee may be charged, for example, Art Academy, Individual Music lessons, Rugga Kids.
